Ruth Adekunle, M.D., MSc, is an assistant professor of medicine at Medical University of South Carolina and Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center who joined the Division of Infectious Diseases in 2020. Her clinical interests include general infectious diseases, infections in immunocompromised hosts, HIV, and hepatitis C. Her research interests focus on disparities in access to transplantation and infections in immunocompromised hosts. She is an investigator with the Charleston Health Equity and Rural Outreach Innovation Center (HEROIC). She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Society of Transplantation.

Marcio Nucci is Professor of Medicine at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro He has received his medical degree in 1981 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State, has completed his residency in Hematology at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1985 and has trained in Infectious Diseases at Università la Sapienza, Roma, Italy in 1991. Dr. Nucci is also consultant in Infectious complications of cancer and bone marrow transplantation. His clinical and research interests include the epidemiology, diagnosis and management of invasive fungal diseases in immunocompromised hosts and infectious complications in in hematologic patients and hematopoietic cell transplant recipients.

Elena Valdés, MD, is a senior nephrology resident at the Hospital Clinico San Carlos, one of the two hospitals in Madrid with a Maastricht II donation program. She was the resident assigned to the case currently being reported, under the supervision of attending Dr. Perez Flores.
