COVID-19 Vaccines and Transplantation
Overview
The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has resulted in substantial morbidity and mortality in the US and worldwide. Vaccines have been developed in record time, with several receiving FDA EUA approval. Understanding the role, features, and side effects of these various vaccines is important to help inform use and expectations. Data are lacking in the transplant population, but physicians should be aware of key principles for protecting their patients.

An Update on COVID-19
Vaccines
Biography:
Evan J. Anderson is Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. He serves as the lead investigator in Georgia for influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 surveillance for the CDC-funded Emerging Infections Program. He is currently one of the multiple PIs of the Emory University Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU) and has been intricately involved with COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials. He has over 150 total publications with particular interest in rotavirus, RSV, influenza, COVID-19, early phase vaccine clinical trials, and the power of community protection.
