Organ trafficking and transplant tourism is an illegal form of human exploitation that imperils both the organ donor and recipient. The IPTA is a signatory to the Declaration of Istanbul, and will seek to continually embed its principles within the Association's work and advocacy.

This position statement was approved in 2022 as the official position of the IPTA. The IPTA values the diversity of opinion and perspectives of its members and of the transplant community at large. As such, we continue to welcome feedback.
