Travel After Transplant: Demographics, Travel Trends, and Vaccination Practices of US Immunocompromised Travelers
INTRODUCTION

This study looked at travel habits and vaccination practices of 317 immunocompromised posttransplant travelers (IPTTs) compared to 3173 control travelers. IPTTs were more likely to travel to visit friends or relatives and take cruises. None of the IPTTs received the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine, and only one received the yellow fever vaccine, highlighting the challenges in vaccinating this group. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding travel patterns and vaccination needs to better prepare IPTTs for international travel, given their increased risk of illness due to immunocompromise.
