An overview of the most relevant clinical and epidemiological data that currently exist related to JCPyV, BKPyV and all the novel human PyVs, a rapidly expanding family of small DNA viruses that infect humans and non-humans hosts. Epidemiological studies indicate that human PyVs are ubiquitous viruses that infect their host without causing apparent primary disease. The focus is the PyVs beyond BKPyV associated with recognized diseases: JCPyV, associated with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy; TSPyV, associated with trycodisplasia spinulosa; and MCPyV, associated with Markel cell carcinoma.
