Overview:
The objective of the presentation is to describe the main pathological findings in patients evaluated for graft dysfunction. Features of acute T-cell mediated rejection, acute antibody mediated rejection, chronic transplant arteriopathy and recurrence of autoimmune Type 1 DM will be discussed based on corresponding clinical vignettes. Also presented will be the main differential diagnoses for each process.
Biography:
Dr. Drachenberg graduated from medical school at the National University of the Northeast, Argentina and completed her pathology residency training at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine, Baltimore MD. Since 1995, she has been the main transplant pathologist for the University of Maryland Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs. Dr. Drachenberg has participated actively in the development of the kidney and pancreas Banff grading schemas for allograft rejection and has worked extensively in defining the main pathological entities affecting whole pancreas allografts.
