How I Do It – Implementing Molecular Diagnostics in Kidney Transplant Care

Thursday, January 15, 2026 - 7:00 AM (Local time in Montreal)
Local time (Corresponding local time at your current location)
The duration of this presentation is scheduled for 60 minutes.

Overview

Biopsy-based transcriptomics are proposed as a diagnostic tool to overcome the limitations of conventional histological assessment of kidney transplant biopsies. Although multiple commercial platforms are currently available, implementation in daily practice is progressing slowly. Several reasons contribute to this slow uptake, including assay complexity and uncertainty about the context of use of molecular diagnostics. In this webinar, routine users of molecular diagnostics in transplant clinics share their experience in the real-life setting, highlighting the potential advantages and pitfalls of these techniques.

Objectives

  • Obtain practical suggestions on how to implement molecular diagnostics in clinics
  • Learn how molecular diagnostics influences the care of transplant recipients in current centers
  • Identify differences between centers in indication and integration of molecular diagnostics
  • Highlight areas of uncertainty or lack of consensus in the use of molecular diagnostics
