Women in Transplantation 2024 Research Grants

WIT is delighted to announce that requests for applications are now open for the 2024-2026 Research Fellowship Grants for Research in Gender and Sex in Transplantation.

This will be the fourth year that we are offering research fellowships in sex and gender in solid organ transplantation. These fellowships will support the next generation of scientists, furthering our understanding of the importance of sex and gender in transplantation. This is a growing field of interest and the more we learn the closer we are to applying these findings to clinical care to benefit patients and donors.

The Molecular Phenotype of Kidney Transplants: Insights From the MMDx Project
This review outlines the molecular disease states in kidney transplant biopsies as documented in the development of the Molecular Microscope Diagnostic System (MMDx).
Organ Donation in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
In recent years, there has been a noticeable growth of deceased donors, transplanted organs, and registered transplantation centers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Although most countries in the region have enacted laws regulating organ donation for transplantation from both living and deceased donors, there are still many obstacles to meet the increasing demand of organ transplantation for the rapidly growing population in this geographic area.

Establishing a HOPE Program in a Real-life Setting: A Brazilian Case Series
Although hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE) improves posttransplant outcomes, setting up machine perfusion programs may be subjected to specific obstacles under different conditions. This study aims to describe the establishment of HOPE in a real-life setting in Brazil.
Development and Validation of a New Score to Assess the Risk of Posttransplantation Diabetes Mellitus in Kidney Transplant Recipients
Posttransplantation diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a serious complication of solid organ transplantation. It is associated with major adverse cardiovascular events, which are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in transplant patients. This study aimed to develop and validate a score to predict the risk of PTDM in kidney transplant recipients.
