Belgian Consensus Guidelines Within Eurotransplant on Imlifidase-enabled Deceased Donor Kidney Transplantation in Highly Sensitized Patients
Highly sensitized (HS) kidney transplant (KTx) candidates, that is, typically considered internationally as those with panel-reactive antibody levels of >85%, remain a substantial subpopulation of patients with low chance of receiving a compatible organ. Among its many objectives, Eurotransplant—an international transplant organ allocation network serving 8 European countries—aims to improve the management of HS KTx candidates through its prioritized “acceptable mismatch” (AM) program.
Combined Heart and Liver Transplantation in the Failing Fontan: Systematic Review and Single-arm Meta-analysis
The Fontan procedure has transformed the management of congenital heart defects characterized by single ventricle physiology, yet it predisposes individuals to Fontan-associated liver disease. Combined heart and liver transplantation (CHLT) emerges as a therapeutic option, but evidence of its efficacy and safety remains limited. This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate CHLT in Fontan patients, focusing on patient characteristics, perioperative outcomes, and posttransplant morbidity and mortality.

Exploring Caregiver Support as a Potential Mediator of Neighborhood Socioeconomic Disadvantage and Reduced Likelihood of Liver Transplant Waitlisting
Individuals from socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods may be at risk of inequitable access to the liver transplant (LT) waitlisting (WL), but mechanisms mediating this relationship are not well understood. We assessed whether area deprivation index (ADI), a measure of neighborhood socioeconomic deprivation, was associated with LT WL and assessed whether caregiver support, a potentially modifiable factor, mediated this relationship.
Soluble DNA Concentration in the Perfusate is a Predictor of Posttransplant Renal Function in Hypothermic Machine Perfused Kidney Allografts
Hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) has greatly improved kidney allograft preservation. However, tissue damage still occurs during HMP, affecting posttransplant graft function. Therefore, better methods are needed to continuously assess organ quality and to predict posttransplant graft function and survival. We propose that soluble DNA (sDNA) concentration in HMP perfusate can be used as a noninvasive biomarker for this purpose.

ITS 2025 Abstracts and Registration

Join us for the 2025 International Transplantation Science meeting (ITS 2025) and connect with the leading global transplantation community!

On behalf of AST, ESOT and TTS, we wish to extend to you a warm welcome to the 2025 International Transplant Science meeting in San Diego, California USA.

This is the fourth of the ITS tri-society meeting series in collaboration with ESOT and TTS. This meeting will provide a wonderful opportunity for transplant researchers to learn from outstanding international speakers while visiting this stunningly beautiful region of the world.

The ITS 2025 will provide a forum for presentations and discussions of cutting-edge basic and translational science in and beyond transplantation. This meeting will not only serve as an international platform for scientific discussions on the latest ground-breaking discoveries in the field but will also provide an excellent opportunity to present your own work to the scientific community. We hope this will allow for the exchange of new ideas and establishment of collaborative work between senior scientists, young professionals and early-stage researchers.

Abstract Submission Deadline: June 15, 2025

Congress Awards Application Deadline:
July 7, 2025

The ISODP Congress Scientific Awards are designed to help offset expenses incurred to attend ISODP Congresses and awarded based on the scientific merit of applicants. Therefore, recipients must attend the meeting in order to receive the award. If an awardee is selected for a scientific award but does not attend the meeting, the monies of the award will be forfeited. The TTS Congress Scientific Awards are based on the scientific merit of abstracts received from members who are trainees, allied health professionals and/or residents of emerging economy countries. The awards, not anticipated to exceed $1,000/awardee, are intended to help offset expenses associated with attending the congress and thus disbursement amounts may vary depending on location.
