Dr Swarnalatha Guditi, MD, DM (Nephrology), FISOT, FISN is a Professor and Head of Dept of Nephrology at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. She has two decades of experience in Nephrology and transplantation.
She leads one of the largest Nephrology departments in India, training 10 fellows annually in Clinical Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation. The department conducts the highest number of kidney transplants facilitating approximately 1700 kidney transplants over the past two decades. Her academic accomplishments include over 100 publications in the field of Nephrology, 30 of which focus specifically on transplantation.
She is also the nodal officer for the deceased donor transplantation program of government of Telangana, since its inception in the year 2012 called "Jeevandan" (donating life). With a donation rate of 5.7 pmp, Jeevandan boasts the highest donation rate in the country.
She is also the South Asian Regional Board member of International Society of Nephrology and awarded the champion of transplant by TTS.
As a founding member of the "Women in Nephrology India" association, she has contributed to advancing the role of women in nephrology and addressing gender-specific issues in kidney diseases. She was awarded the "Women Pioneer in the field of Organ Transplantation" by Ministry of Health, Govt of India in the year 2024.
