IPITA Membership Requirements

To join the International Pancreas and Islet Transplantation Association, please submit your application. When your application is approved, you will be invoiced for your IPITA dues.

There are four categories of membership: Regular Members, Emeritus Members, Trainee Members, and Allied Health Professional Member.

  • Regular membership shall be gained by submission of a membership application sponsored by two Regular Members, in good standing, of the Association and approval by the Council. Regular members shall be physicians, surgeons, scientists, or other specialists, who are actively engaged in the science or clinical practice of organ, cell and tissue transplantation. Regular members are eligible to vote in IPITA affairs and policy decisions.

  • Emeritus members shall be full members who have attained the age of 65 years or have retired from active practice in the field of transplantation and who formally request Emeritus membership status. Emeritus members shall not have the right to vote or hold office on the Council but may serve on committees. Emeritus members shall be exempt from payment of annual membership dues. To apply for emeritus status simply send your request including your contact information to Amanda Mayer at: membership@tts.org.

  • Trainee members shall include individuals enrolled in pre- or postdoctoral training programs relevant to the science and clinical practice of organ, cell and tissue transplantation, and individuals who have completed their training but have not yet qualified for full membership. No individual may remain in this category more than six years. Trainee members may not vote or hold office on the council but may serve on committees. Trainee membership shall be gained by submission of a membership application sponsored by two Regular Members, in good standing, of the Association or if still in training, by submission of a letter from the Program Director confirming the candidate’s status as a trainee, the nature of the training program and estimated year of completion, followed by approval by the Council.

  • Allied Health Professional members shall include individuals who have an interest in islet and pancreas transplantation and are actively working in this field. Their status must be confirmed by their professional association card. This membership category could include: nurses, coordinators and physician assistants but is not restricted to these positions. Allied Heath Members shall have the same voting rights as a Full Member, but are ineligible to be an Officer or Councilor of the Association.

An IPITA Young Investigator may hold trainee or regular membership. An IPITA Young Investigator qualifies as physicians, surgeons and scientists in the early stages of their career in the field of science and clinical practice of organ, cell and tissue transplantation. This includes individuals in pre- or postdoctoral training programs, individuals within maximum 10 years of becoming a consultant/post-doc and individuals holding a faculty position for maximum 5 years. IPITA young investigators may hold IPITA Trainee or regular membership, as defined by the IPITA council. IPITA Young Investigators may hold a trainee membership for a maximum of six years. To apply for a new membership

The membership application is completed online through a step-by-step form. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. For TTS and IXA applications, you must identify the sponsor(s) supporting your submission. TTS applicants are also required to upload additional materials, including a CV and a brief professional profile (a one-paragraph biographical sketch). ISUTx applicants must apply directly through the section website at: www.tts.org/isutx-membership.

You may log out at any time and return later to complete your application from where you left off by signing in with your email address and password in the “Returning Applicants” box. To access your saved application, return to this page and use the login box located in the bottom right corner. You can check the status of your application at any time by logging in with your email and password. Please do not attempt to log in through the main TTS website, as this will not provide access to your application.

After submission, the review process typically takes 4–6 weeks. You will be notified by email once a decision has been made. Please do not submit payment for membership dues until you have been formally accepted.
