Scientific Program Chairs Visit TTS IHQ!

We were pleased to host Fadi Issa and Germaine Wong (Scientific Program Committee Co-Chairs) on May 12-13 at our International Headquarters in Montreal, Canada. They spent two days with our Program Manager (Catherin Parker) and Executive Director (Marcelle McPhaden) putting the final touches on the program and assigning paper submissions into the sessions.
Stay Tuned - Abstract notifications will be emailed on June 3, 2024!

TID - Quality and Safety Survey

TID is launching a survey to develop quality indicators for managing infections in transplantation, aiming to improve patient outcomes. They seek input from centers worldwide to understand their data and mechanisms for handling post-transplant infections. This will enable collaboration with international organizations to create robust indicators. Only one representative per center is needed, preferably with an administrator. Your participation is crucial for advancing the field of Transplant Infectious Disease. Thank you for your contribution!

Regulatory B Cells in Solid Organ Transplantation: From Immune Monitoring to Immunotherapy
Regulatory B cells (Breg) modulate the immune response in diverse disease settings including transplantation. Despite the lack of a specific phenotypic marker or transcription factor, their significance in transplantation is underscored by their ability to prolong experimental allograft survival, the possibility for their clinical use as immune monitoring tools, and the exciting prospect for them to form the basis for cell therapy.
Impact of Pretransplant Diabetes on Outcomes After Liver Transplantation: An Updated Meta-analysis With Systematic Review
Preliver transplant diabetes mellitus (pre-LT DM) is a common comorbidity in LT recipients associated with poorer post-transplant survival. However, its relationship with other important outcomes, including cardiovascular and renal outcomes, remains unclear. This meta-analysis aims to provide an updated analysis of the impact of pre-LT DM on key post-LT outcomes.

Association of Circulating 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Recurrence of Glomerulonephritis in Kidney Transplant Recipients: The Wisconsin Allograft Recipient Database (WisARD)
Recurrence of glomerulonephritis (GN) is a significant contributor to long-term allograft failure among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with kidney failure because of GN. Accumulating evidence has revealed the role of vitamin D in both innate and adaptive immunity. Although vitamin D deficiency is common among KTRs, the association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) and GN recurrence in KTRs remains unclear.
Canadian Anatomic Kidney Score: Quantitative Macroscopic Assessment of Donor Kidney Quality for Transplantation
The Canadian Anatomic Kidney Score (CAKS) is a novel 6-point grading system that standardizes the gross description of a donor kidney across 3 components—vessels, anatomy, and sticky fat. We hypothesized that the CAKS predicts allograft functional outcomes and provides additional information to the Kidney Donor Profile Index (KDPI) and histologic assessment of the donor kidney.
