Another Viral Infection Linked to Posttransplant Diabetes Mellitus?
In this issue of Transplantation, Vinson et al1 published a large retrospective study incorporating data from the largest data repository for patients with COVID-19 in the United States, the N3C COVID Enclave, which includes 83 medical centers. They examined nondiabetic adult solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2023, with a minimum follow-up time of 6 mo. To evaluate the risk of developing posttransplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM), the authors compared those who developed COVID-19 within the first 180 d after transplantation with those who did not.
Basiliximab Induction and Postoperative Steroid-free Immunosuppression With Tacrolimus in Pediatric Liver Transplantation: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Optimizing the immunosuppressive regimen is essential to improve the long-term outcomes of pediatric liver transplant recipients.

Dynamics of Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury Markers During Normothermic Liver Machine Perfusion
A comprehensive mechanistic assessment of normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) is an essential step toward identifying biomarkers to assess liver viability. Although some studies have evaluated the effect of NMP on inflammation markers, there are other key pathological mechanisms involved in ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) that have not yet been evaluated.
Risk Stratification Before Living Donor Kidney Transplantation in Patients With Preformed Donor-specific Antibodies by Different Crossmatch Methods
Preformed donor-specific HLA antibodies (DSA) are a well-known risk factor in kidney transplantation. There is still considerable debate, however, about the optimal risk stratification among patients with preformed DSA. Additionally, data on the prognostic value of different crossmatch assays in DSA-positive patients are scarce.
